Finding A Cheap Electric Guitar

Most of us never progress from playing air guitar behind closed doors. Some more determined people strive to make the rock and roll dream come true. Budget is often an issue when starting out and finding a cheap electric guitarĀ is the answer. There are plenty available, both new and in the used market. Of course, there are the accessories to buy too and the all-important amplifier.

Firstly, look at your neighborhood and circle of friends. Someone may be looking to upgrade and they may want to sell their guitar. Also, have a look in the classified advertisements. There is usually a section for musical instruments. Go down to the local music stores. They sometimes have cheap electric guitars for sale and some of them place adverts in the window for second hand guitars for sale.

Online retailers are another outlet and there is real opportunity for a bargain. Some deals are aimed at beginners and you can choose a guitar kit that may include an amplifier, instruction CD and book, spare strings, and plectrum etc. Look at what these items cost individually and decide if it is more economical to buy them separately or as an inclusive deal. There are specialist guitar websites and websites for different instruments. Amazon and eBay have a good range of cheap electric guitars.

It is certainly possible to get a good quality guitar for under $200. Lots of people start out with a Fender Squier or an Encore. Many of the Epiphone guitars are near copies of the Les Paul models, which cost considerably more. It's important to remember that the sound is more important than the looks, no matter how great it would look on stage. Don't always go for the very cheapest. You still want value for money and you need something decent to learn on. It doesn't have to be a brand name though. Make sure the instrument feels comfortable and it's the right size for you. Look to see what can be fixed. Pickups can be replaced but a damaged neck is a real problem.

One of the websites that offers a range of cheap electric guitars is getitall.net or you may want to go on an auction site. The Gigwam website accepts bids for guitars and there is a choice of approximately 1,000 at a time. The models include Stratocasts, Ibonez, Takoma, and Martins. It may be a long way off to superstardom and your own custom built guitar but buying a cheap electric guitar is the first step.
